EDIT...seems i need a unique ID code to claim them games and there is supposed to be one in the box, i didn't get one.

Not too long ago I made a thread expressing my dissatisfaction with the quality of my Vapor-X 7970. I was told by a Sapphire representative to contact Althon Micro to get the issue resolved, so I did. I expressed my frustration with receiving a very obviously refurbished card that was warped and bent upon arrival and emitted loud electrical buzz sounds under load. I sent them these pictures of the card:

The last picture with the ruler most clearly shows the warpage of the PCB. My original card had a PCB that was perfectly straight and flat when I sent it in for RMA, and this replacement arrived in this exact condition. I noticed the warpage and bending literally right after i took it out of the box, but didn't return it immediately because I didn't feel like going another 3 weeks without any kind of graphics card and paying another $20 for shipping again. And Althon Micro's response was this:

"Thanks for the photos, but the card looks fine from the angles you took for the card, it might be a little bend, but that’s because the metal backplate when you put screws on it will bend the shape a little, not something series that would cause the card not to function properly.

They're calling this normal??? Like i said, my original card had no warpage at all. Maybe this wouldn't be a big deal to some people, but to me it is. I'm picky about the way my PC looks and I have a big side window that shows all the components, and you can clearly see the card doesn't sit totally flat in my tower. In addition, I do eventually plan to sell the card and upgrade when the 8000 series is released. When I go to sell it on ebay, I'm going to have to post pictures of the card, and any keen viewer will notice the slight warpage, and he will be less likely to buy it over a card that has a perfectly flat, rigid PCB. Later I will post one more picture of a little bending in the PCI bracket that isn't shown in these pictures, and I'll record a video of the god-awful coil buzz/whine that this card emits. I can't stand this card, I'm ready to cut my loses and just take whatever I can get for it on eBay and try out a 670 or 680 or even a 7950 from a different brand if I can't get a quieter, non-warped card from an RMA. =/ ]]> General Discussion Murderotica926 http://www.sapphireforum.com/showthread.php?31211-The-frustration-with-Sapphire-continues
