AMD Catalyst™ Driver for AMD Radeon™ HD 4000, HD 3000 and HD 2000 Series
AMD has moved to the AMD Radeon™ HD 4000, AMD Radeon HD 3000, and AMD Radeon HD 2000 Series new driver support model. These updates will focus on resolving application specific issues and critical updates. The reason for the shift in support policy is largely due to the fact that the AMD Radeon HD 4000, AMD Radeon HD 3000, and AMD Radeon HD 2000 Series have been optimized to their maximum potential from a performance and feature perspective.

AMD has done an exceptional job keeping up with its process of thoroughly building driver releases. The multiple BETAs are what I refer to as the new "Hotfixes". They seem to add new game or unforseen issues that come up and need immediate minor fixes before the new driver is through Beta testing. AMD labels it a new number to signify a change and it seems to simplify things rather than having multiple Hotfix links. I agree with this methodology. The Beta driver getting updates is eventual in the process as the need for quick changes before the final WHQL release are absolutely necessary. A true Hotfix usually signifies a major hardware issue fix when a game is broke and won't run or a newly released GPU model is suffering from severe operation malfunction. This way routine game updates are easily included in betas seperate from major complete driver re-works in a Hotfix.. Simplifying is best.
