Default Help with install of HD 7870

    System: Modified HP Envy h8-1414
    Motherboard HP Angelica M3970BM
    AMD Fx-6120 3.50GHz
    10GB DDR3 PC3-12800 1600MHz
    AMD Radeon HD 7450
    Windows 8 64bit
Replaced Power Supply with: Cooler MASTER i500 Power Supply
    Trying to replace GPU

Problem: I get "No Signal" on monitor with new GPU (Sapphire HD 7870GHz Edition OC 2GB GDDR5). I removed old GPU replaced with 7870, connected 2 6pin PCIe power from 2 seperate power lines, get "No Signal" on monitor. Reinstalled old GPU and uninstalled Drivers then reinstalled 7870 still get "No signal". Manual reset of CMOS with Jumper and removed CMOS Battery, still "No Signal" on monitor. Motherboard has no onboard GPU only 1 PCIe slot. Any thoughts before put in support ticket?

What was your previous used GPU card?
Be sure to un-install all old drivers and clean-up with a registry cleaner (e.g. CCleaner).

Do you have no signal when booting up to your Windows system, or no signal right on by pre-post (even not allowing to go to BIOS)?
When having no signal, do the cooling fans spin of your 7870 ?

Old GPU: AMD Radeon HD 7450

No signal from boot up. No access to Bios.

I am going to try reinstall old GPU, enter bios and set to legacy. I have read that with win.8 they have secured bios will not register new components. Just sucks having to reinstall old gpu because motherboard has no onboard gpu.

Yes tried both DVI and HDMI ports. Currently trying to work through this Win 8 Bios thing. I think that is the problem, not reading card.

Anyone has advise on how to install a new GPU in Win 8 system?

    Resolved the problem,
Windows 8 new bios program has secure boot and won't let add new hardware.
Needed to enter bios menu from inside windows and disable secure boot.
Then install card and boot system for it to be recognized.
